The base here does an Operation
School Supply mission where we package up items for the patrols to hand out to
the Iraqi children when they are out and about (Good-will Ambassador kind of
stuff) and was wondering if any group would like to take this on and send some
items over for distribution. Below is a list of items we are looking for. I
would ask that you limit donations to the list because of specific guidelines on
what we can and can not hand out to people over here. I.e. food items are
frowned upon but I’m sure we hand out candy to the kids all the time. (It’s been
a tradition for GI’s to do that dating back to WWI, I’ve even done it in
Coloring Books ( no addresses, e-mails, company names, religion or holidays)
Notebooks (70 Count)
Loose leaf paper (50 or 100 count)
Scissors (no sharp edges)
Pens (no addresses, e-mails, company names, religion or holidays)
Rulers (only 12”)
Erasers (no addresses, e-mails, company names, religion or holidays)
Markers
Color pencils
(The restrictions placed on books, pens, and erasers are due to force protection issues. We don’t want terrorists getting hold to any of that information to use against anyone i.e. letter bombs, threatening phone calls, etc, etc…)
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Tell all I said Hey and I’ll be home as soon as I am able.
