Sunny Lane recognizes that different people worship in different ways and have differing needs when it comes to attending worship experiences.  While the basic goal of any worship experience is to provide worshippers with a way to "recharge" their spiritual batteries and to challenge them to live out the following week as a disciple of Jesus Christ while leading others into that same type of relationship, the methods in which that goal is accomplished can vary greatly.  We have a variety of services, and each one is geared to help our worshippers in ways that suit their own needs.

Praise & Communion Service

Program

The Praise & Communion Service begins at 8:30 a.m.  It is geared to meet the needs of a more "contemporary" worshipper by taking important elements of a liturgical worship setting and adapting them to a multimedia-type presentation.  This service makes use of video projection screens, praise choruses, drama presentations, and "scaled down" high church liturgies to present the Word in an engaging and challenging manner.

Communion is offered through the method of intinction on a weekly basis.

Worship is led by the Sunny Lane Praise Team.  The Praise Team is comprised of male and female singers, acoustic guitars, a bass guitar, drums, and on occasion sports its own horn section.

On the fourth Sunday of every month, in lieu of a typical sermon, Sunny Lane's Drama Ministry and a Lay Speaker present the morning's Word through skits designed to illuminate Scripture through possible daily situations that any one of us may find ourselves.

Traditional Service

Program

The Traditional Service begins at 10:50 a.m.  This service is based closely on a "high church" liturgy, meaning that it follows a more formal flow of worship than our Praise & Communion Service.

Worship is led by the Sunny Lane Sanctuary Choir, with occasional accompaniment by the Sunny Lane Orchestra.  From a musical standpoint, the highlight of the Traditional Service is the morning's anthem, which the Sanctuary Choir rehearses tirelessly for during the preceding week.  Our Orchestra members range in ages from 14 to 71 years.

Communion is typically offered on the first Sunday of each month (unless other worship needs such as multiple baptisms are planned).  In instances when Communion can not be administered on its regular Sunday, it is offered the following week.
