My Story
Rev. Adam Young serves as Senior Pastor of Sunny Lane United Methodist Church, a role he began in July 2022 when he and his family relocated from the Dallas, Texas area after 15 years.
Adam was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but moved around quite a bit as a child, living in New Mexico, Oklahoma, New York, Maryland, and even London, UK, before landing in Dallas. He earned his Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology in 2012 and is currently pursuing his doctorate through Saint Paul School of Theology. Adam’s call to ministry came at age 15 during a global Christian youth gathering in Toronto, where he experienced a profound sense of the Holy Spirit's presence while surrounded by thousands of young people in worship.
Adam is married to Mallory, an actuary by profession and a gifted musician who plays the flute and piano, and sings in the choir. Together, they have four sons: Kaden, who plays the saxophone and plans to study pre-med at the University of Oklahoma; Colby, who is involved in music and theater; Carter, who plays the violin and participates in multiple sports; and Kai, who has a passion for art and making new friends. Adam coaches his sons' baseball teams and enjoys playing violin. His current go-to coffee order is an iced dirty chai latte. In his free time, he loves to laugh while watching Saturday Night Live, comedians like Nate Bargatze, silly dog videos, and funny TikTok dances.
Adam's favorite aspect of ministry at Sunny Lane is serving alongside a congregation marked by servant hearts, a deep commitment to Del City, and extraordinary generosity toward one another and the community.
